Masala Dosa Recipes
Interested in making masala dosa? You can use Instant Dosa Mix to prepare masala dosa too.
All you need is the Chutney powder that comes free with the instant dosa mix and potato curry prepared with the curry powder
that comes with instant dosa mix.
Of course you need some potatoes too. And if you like onions, you can add them to potato curry as well as sambar.
Ok here is how you need to prepare the potato curry for masala dosa.
Wash, peel and slice four potatoes into thin, small pieces. Cook in the microwave for 10 minutes. (You can also use mashed
potatoes instead of sliced potatoes)
Take a table spoon of cooking oil and pop some mustard seeds in it. (If you have chick peas, red chilli and green chilli you
can add them to the cooking oil after popping mustard seeds. If not, never mind... just mustard seeds will do.)
Add the potato slices to the mustard seeds and stir well. Keep stirring and cook the potatoes over medium heat. Add a table
spoon of curry powder. You can use the curry powder that is free with instant dosa mix. You can also get curry powder from Indian Grocery stores.
Add salt to taste.
You can vary the amount of curry powder you add, according to your taste. If you want the curry to be spicier, you add more
curry powder. If you want it bland, use less curry powder.
Mix the potato, curry powder and salt well and keep stirring. Cook until the potatoes are nicely cooked. Garnish the potato
curry with curry leaves and coriander leaves.
Mix the chutney powder (you get it free with instant dosa mix) with a little water to make chutney paste.
Make dosa (watch the video above to learn how to make instant dosa).
Pass your spatula around the edges of the dosa to ensure that the dosa is not stuck to the pan.
Before folding and flipping the dosa smear it with chutney paste and spread two table spoons of potato curry.
After adding the chutney and potato curry, fold the dosa and cook for a minute.
Flip the dosa and cook for 30 seconds more.
Serve the masala dosa hot.
